ATN X Sight 4K Pro Review

ATN has truly reshaped the landscape of digital night vision optics with its newest release, the ATN X-Sight 4K Pro. The sight comes in at a remarkably affordable price compared to past models and other night vision technology available to the public.

The new 4K lineup from ATN has a sleeker, more stealthy-looking overall design and has upgraded much of the functionality that the X-Sight has become known for, making it one of the hottest digital sights currently on the market in 2020.

ATN X Sight 4K Pro vs the Original?

If you’re an owner of the original X-sight, the 4K Pro is a major upgrade. The ATN X Sight line of scopes is centered around two things that every sportsman can get behind. First off, quality. Obviously, they want to bring a quality product to market. But the quality of the product, combined with the price of the product.. makes the ATN X Sight 4K Pro a strong investment if you’re in the market for a night vision scope.

ATN X Sight 4K Pro Review

ATN has managed to work out many of the undesirable kinks that bugged some earlier X-Sight models, including short battery life, the on/off switch having a mind of its own, and the screen freezing up. The ATN X-Sight 4K Pro is a newly revamped digital sight that has a crisp, clear picture and even more amazing features, making it easily one of the most versatile scopes on the market.

ATN X-Sight 4K PRO with Ultra HD Optics

This is one of my personal favorite scopes for both the price as well as the quality of the optic. If you want a high quality night vision scope that prices out similar to some higher end day use scopes, the ATN X Sight 4K Pro is my top recommendation.

ATN X-Sight 4K Pro Capabilities

One of the main selling points for the original X-Sight was that users could have their rifle sighted in after only one shot. This wasn’t always the case as some users reported difficulty locking the reticle into position, or the fact that the older sights could freeze up and force users to do a hard reset, meaning they would have to completely reset the date, time, and all other features on their sight all over again.

With most of those issues cleared in the new 4K Pro version, users can more easily enjoy the overall capabilities that the sight offers and have much of the satisfaction of a daytime/night vision digital sight without spending a few thousand dollars.

It should be noted that this sight doesn’t quite compare to the ultra premium digital optic sights that range anywhere from $4,000 to $6,000 retail. What it does deliver on is a huge amount of versatility and cool features that can completely change a hunting experience, especially for anyone who wants to film their outdoor adventures, or for users looking to get an advantage over their prey.

The ATN X-Sight 4K Pro comes in two different magnifications, 3-14x and 5-20x. We’ll be focusing mainly on the 5-20x version, since that’s currently the most popular of the two sights.

Day or Night Vision

Let’s start with the main attraction that this sight has to offer. Users can enjoy the convenience of having a scope they can use for daytime or night hunting without having to sacrifice performance. If you do decide to swap your scope out onto another gun, you can rest assured that you won’t need to spend half a box of cartridges getting zeroed-in.

The night vision mode offers hunters a huge advantage in not having to use a spotlight to get a shot on your target. With the 4K Pro’s night vision mode, you’ll be able to get a clear picture on your target without ever alerting any game animals to your presence, which often allows you to get off a few more shots when the action kicks off.

Whether you choose to hunt in daytime or night vision mode, you’ll be able to record or stream your hunt using 1080p. For anyone who likes to film their hunts, that’s a huge advantage as they’ll no longer need to haul large camera equipment into the field on their hunts. Plus, you’ll get to show viewers exactly what the shooter is seeing.

The scope also offers a Recoil Activated Video mode which automatically turns on the camera when a shot is squeezed off. And yes, the RAV mode records the action that took place a few seconds before you took the shot.

Better, Longer Lasting Night Vision

The ATN X-Sight 4K Pro 5-20x has a battery life that’s rated to last up to 18 hours, which should be plenty long enough for most hunters. The new internal lithium ion battery can be fully recharged within a few hours, which means you’ll only need to plug it into the charging cable/port following your hunt.

The X-Sight 4K Pro comes standard with an IR850 Infrared Illuminator, but most users recommend going the extra mile and purchasing a stronger option like the IR850 SuperNova. Having an upgraded illuminator will greatly increase the range on your scope when using it in night vision mode.

Record Your Hunts in HD

Who doesn’t like to show off their best hunts to their buddies? The ATN X-Sight 4K Pro does just that by featuring a digital video recorder that operates directly with the ATN Smart HD scope. This also allows hunters to replay their shots to see how well they hit the animal and determine the possible time needed to track and harvest your kill.

You can also stream your feed live to another Android or iOS device using a wireless connection from the field.

Other Features

As noted above, the ATN X-Sight 4K Pro is packed with amazing features that will change any hunter’s experience. Each version comes with a built-in ATN Auxillary Ballistic Laser 1000 which pinpoints the exact distance between you and your target.

The scope also offers ballistics calculations using the laser in conjunction with things like temperature, humidity, angle of shot, caliber, and much more. This helps take a huge portion of the guesswork out of long-range shots and lets you simply place the crosshairs on your target and send it.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Daytime or Night Vision HD Optics

  • Dual streaming
  • Recoil Activated Video
  • Fits standard picatinny rail
  • Simple controls

  • Smart range finder
  • Ballistic calculator
  • 18 hours of battery life

Takeaway

There is no denying that the ATN X-Sight 4K Pro offers plenty of impressive features, but be aware that some users have reported issues with their screens freezing, which often requires a hard reset to fix. However, ATN is on standby as each scope comes standard with a full 2-year warranty.

No matter what kind of rifle you’re using, the scope is able to adjust and compensate accordingly to allow you to pull off long range shots without a second thought. While most premium day or night vision scopes will cost well over $2,000, the ATN X-Sight 4K Pro’s value at under $800 is undeniable.
